Professor Warisu O. Alli

Founding Member

Professor Warisu Ali is a founding member of SIRA and a renown international relations scholar. He is presently a retired Professor from the Department of Political Science, University of Jos. His academic qualifications include M.A. (Hons.), 1977 and PhD 1981, International Relations, Kiev State University, Kiev Ukraine with a Certificate in Russian Language.

His academic and professional experience include:

Professor Ali has over 10 edited and co-edited books, monographs and over 70 book chapters and journal articles. He was Awarded Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos, 2012. In terms of administrative experience Professor Ali has held many important appointments among which are: Ag. Head, Department of Political Science, 1989 – 1990; 1992 – 1994; 1998 – 2000; Ag. Dean, Faculty of Social Science, 1990 – 92; Chairman, International Relations Committee, ASUU, 2002 – 2004; Director of Research and Studies, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, (NIIA), Lagos, 2004-2008; Executive Director and Member, Board of Trustees, Centre for Inter-African and Human Development Studies, (CIDES), Jos/Abuja; Member, National Council on NEPAD, 2009 – 2015; Director, Directorate of Research and Policy Analysis (R&PA), Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Abuja, 2015-2016 (On Sabbatical Leave); and Member of Council, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos.
