ACTIVITIES OF SIRA
Since inception, SIRA has pursued its vision through a combination of activities which include, annual conferences and lectures on contemporary international relations and foreign policy issues. SIRA’s annual lectures are published in its yearly publication known as Reflections on Nigeria’s Foreign Policy, now in its 10th Volume.
We have consulted pro bono for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs over the Bakassai Peninsular and the Malian Crisis some years ago. We have also issued press releases and Communiques as necessary. For Example, we issued a communique as shown below (INSERT LINK TO COMMUNIQUE HERE) on the Africa’s migration crises when we called for African leaders to do more in bringing an end to the problem of desperate citizens risking their lives particularly across the Mediterranean Sea to get to Europe, in the hope of better life.
In order to make our mission more practical and credible, we have organised visits to the campuses of Universities in the country with a view to mobilising the students of such institution as members, with prospect of becoming mouthpieces of SIRA, to spread the message of a democratic foreign policy in their organisations at the grass root level that would otherwise be outside the reach of SIRA.
